In this episode I introduce the series we will be covering called “Scripture is…”
We will be using the Westminster Confession of Faith (WCF) Ch. 1 for this series. I referenced a teaching series by Pastor Joel Ellis were he goes through the WCF section by section. You can check out the entire series here.
Series Outline: Scripture Is…
Pt. 1 – Scripture is Special Revelation – Pt 1/6 (WCF 1.1)
Pt. 2 – Scripture is Inspired – Pt 2/6 (WCF 1.2-3)
Pt. 3 – Scripture is Authoritative & Self-Authenticating – Pt 3/6 (WCF 1.4-5)
Pt. 4 – Scripture is Sufficient – Pt 4/6 (WCF 1.6)
Pt. 5 – Scripture is Understandable – Pt 5/6 (WCF 1.7-8)
Pt. 6 – Scripture is Supreme & Interprets Itself – Pt 6/6 (WCF 1.9-10)
I do recommend for listeners to review each section of the WCF CH. 1, along with its scripture references. Each section can be summarized by doctrine(s) in this way:
- General & Special Revelation
- The Canon of inspired Scripture
- Apocrypha Not Canon/Inspired
- Sola Scriptura – Authority of Scripture
- Self-Authenticity
- Sufficiency & illumination
- Perspicuity
- Translation and Regulative Principle of Worship
- Analogy of Faith
- Supremacy of Scripture
