Recently I was a guest in my friend’s podcast The Proverbial Life (available on YouTube and all major podcast platforms as well as social media) to speak on the topic of what is New Covenant Theology. I used to hold to this system years ago, approximately back in 2018. The Lord thankfully brought men into my life to help me see its errors. Though in this episode I criticize NCT (an errant but still orthodox system), it is done so in an irenic but truthful fashion, knowing that “we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ” (2 Cor. 5:10). The apostle Peter himself said that some of the things Paul wrote about were “hard to understand” (2 Pet. 3:16). Whenever we speak of God and the way he relates to His creatures, we must do so humbly and with reverent fear, knowing that speaking falsehood about God and His word is a violation of the 9th commandment against God himself. Yet we have been given God’s word, and what it says of Him is true and belongs “to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law” (Deut. 29:29). I hope that my fellow NCT brothers can conclude that I have “steel manned” rather than “straw manned” their position, that they can recognize their beliefs in my presentation, and use this as a way to open a dialogue with them on these glorious issues.
